Photographs have provided us with iconic images of both natural and built sitess from around the world-- and beyond. This image attempts to replicate that singular moment of discovery embodied in the exploration-era photographs of the 19th century. As objects they possess an uncanny directness, but their ostensible authenticity only reminds us of the limitation of any photographic image, reproduction, or replica.
