Lauren A. Ross
Free Studio Resident, winter/spring 2023
Lauren A. Ross returned to live in Iowa City at the beginning of the pandemic after a hiatus of 17 years in Los Angeles. Her practice includes weaving, stitching, drawing, and video based work. A previous project, Notes, 2016, are stitched drawings on onion skin paper that address the fragility of life. She recently started an iteration of this project with marks made by her young children. Her collaboration with both sets of marks- made on each end of life and illegible in their own way- seeks to articulate our relationship to birth and death while residing somewhere between.
