Join us for a pop-up exhibition hosted by Global Food Project and Public Space One and an evening of conversation and artwork that celebrates agriculture, food, and community.
This winter, Iowa City-area artists met with gardeners from Global Food Project to learn about the care, cultivation, and culinary traditions of different crops they grow. Global Food Project is a program of Iowa City nonprofit IC Compassion that provides small and large garden plots along with concrete and educational gardening resources for predominantly immigrant and refugee families at the Johnson County Historic Poor Farm.
From these discussions held between artist and farmer, the artists compiled imagery, information and anecdotes into vibrant prints that celebrate the abundance of knowledge and careful agricultural practices that gardeners at Global Food Project use to nourish their cultures and communities. These wonderful prints will be available for purchase at this pop-up event! All proceeds from print sales will benefit the Global Food Project.
Please stop by to celebrate these talented gardeners and artists, engage in conversation facilitated by Dr. Brandi Janssen and Global Food Project participants and learn more about the role of food in building and sustaining community. Light refreshments will be served, and all are welcome!
