Mokulito is a form of lithography that uses wood as a printing matrix, instead of a more traditional process like stone lithography. Developed only recently in the 1970s, mokulito is exciting and unpredictable. The resulting prints are often one-of-a-kind, but editioning is possible with practice and patience!
In this workshop, participants will learn how to prepare pieces of wood to use as printing matrices, use various mark-making techniques to create imagery, and pull beautiful prints! The workshop meets for three different class sessions to allow for trial & error and the creation of multiple different prints.
Open to ages 18+.

PS1 workshops are pay-what-you-can thanks to support from Hills Bank, a Johnson County Quality of Life Grant, and individual donors. $197 is the true cost of the workshop for each participant.

TEACHING ARTIST
Harper is an interdisciplinary, paper-based artist living and working in Iowa City. She is a recent MFA graduate from the University of Iowa Center for the Book. She primarily works with handmade paper, printmaking techniques, book forms, and collage. Her current body of work reflects on childhood, and the way her own memories morph into family history.
