Participants will learn to create a relief carved wood block print in the reduction woodcut style where you create a multicolored print utilizing a single woodblock. You will use relief carving tools to carve your woodblock, learn to create registration for your block, tear down paper, learn to work with printmaking ink and utilize an etching press to create a limited run print.

Lilah Ward Shepherd is a multidisciplinary artist working with textiles, natural dyeing, printmaking, clay, painting and drawing. She received her MFA from the university of Iowa in printmaking and MA in ceramics. Her work explores color relationships, geometric shapes and patterning, relationships between forms and space while investigating human relationships, identity, ancestry, peace, comfort, and play.
