Tiona McClodden is a visual artist, filmmaker, and curator whose work explores, and critiques issues at the intersections of race, gender, sexuality and social commentary. McClodden’s interdisciplinary approach traverses documentary film, experimental video, sculpture, and sound installations. Themes explored in McClodden’s films and works have been re-memory and more recently narrative biomythography.

McClodden worked with students on a project using photography, drawing, and sound recording, inspired by Ana Mendieta’s rare sound based work Untitled (Soul), circa 1973 that she created with students at Henry Sabin Elementary School in Iowa City, includes recordings of their thoughtful and perceptions on the soul.
