Art Access Program

[The teaching artist] did a great job...she got us excited, encouraged experimentation and showed us how to learn from our failures.

The Art Access Program is an initiative that aims to lower and/or eliminate barriers to arts opportunities, spaces, supplies, and education for adults in Johnson County.

This program is supported in part by: Hills Bank || Blick Art Materials || individual donors
If you’d like to join us in making art available everyday for anyone, contact kalmia@publicspaceone.com

IMPACT: Between July 2023 and June 2024, the AAP supported over 350 individuals in participating in free or reduced-cost arts workshops and distributed over 500 free art supplies.

Pay-What-You-Can Arts Workshops

All of PS1’s workshops are offered with free or sliding-scale (pay-what-you-can) registration fees, and we are committed to paying instructors fairly for teaching and prep time. Approximately 2/3rds of workshop participants make use of reduced workshop fees in order to participate.

Free Art Supplies

FAS gathers donations of and freely redistributes new or gently use high-quality art supplies to anyone who needs them.
You can visit the Free Art Supplies “store” at 538 S. Gilbert, request items online, or visit us an offsite event.
More details here.

Art Equipment Lending Library

This growing collection of equipment is freely accessible for individuals to use onsite at PS1 and can be borrowed by PS1 members. More details here.
