Oracles Art & Conversation at the ICPL

  • Public Space One 123 South Linn Street Iowa City, IA, 52240 United States (map)

What is the point of a mural? What does public art do for the community? How can we most effectively use the space we have to fight for justice? Join us for community conversation exploring the place of public art in the struggle for justice. Make your thoughts known and workshop ideas for the future of public art with the Center for Afrofuturist Studies.

We will be kicking off our conversation with a workshop where you will have the chance to consider how you would use public art space to fight for racial/social justice. We will hand out paper canvases of the same dimensions as our Oracles murals and give everyone the time/space to draw their own design or a few doodles that we will combine into a collage at the end of the event.
