Too Cute!
Puppies, pastel desserts, miniature anything—that’s cute. But there’s a dark side [ OwO ]. Cute things are things easily harmed. There is an inverse relationship between vulnerability and the impulse to care for, or crush. Shallow, easily dismissable, feminine, childish—these words are often synonymous with cute. This exhibition seeks art works that push the aesthetic boundaries of the adorable. Selected works will be incorporated into an immersive installation at Iowa City’s Public Space One. Show us your cute.
If selected you will show alongside these unbelievably adorable artists:
Taylor Yocom
Fuko Ito
Eugene Sarmiento
Erin Smego
Rebecka Kann
Hannah Song
Mariana Dal Pra
Teia Smith
Tommy Santee Klaws
Janeice Maddox
About the organizers: Drake A. Wilbur is a cute graphic designer. Vero Rose Smith is a dream-artist. Together, they will curate the sparkliest, fluffiest, most enchanting immersive installation ever!!! <3 <3 <3
