TEACHING ARTIST:
Claire Whitehurst is a painter, printmaker and ceramicist living and working in Iowa City, Iowa, where received her MFA in Painting from the University of Iowa. She was born in Louisiana and raised in Mississippi. Her work explores dreams, stories, memory, time, confusion, identity, happiness, and grief through color, form, texture and pattern. Paintings, prints, and ceramic sculpture play with the boundaries of emotional performance through formal qualities as well as the metaphysical relationships we have between image and object and what is left unsaid between things.
