Teaching Artist:
Emily Jalinsky is a printmaking and mixed media artist, educator, and arts organizer living in Iowa City, IA. She is a process-based artist who primarily makes one-of-a-kind works on paper, assemblages, and installations. Her work invokes mindfulness and resiliency while centering around mental health and changing states within the body with semi-abstract, organic imagery. Emily is passionate about accessible art, community spaces, and education. She is the program coordinator for the Iowa City Press Co-op, active in the national Artist/Mother Co. community, and a member of the local feminist art collective, Bluestockings. Her teaching style is informative, teaching all the basics from prepping paper, registration, and inking techniques while allowing time for experimentation and variation. She enjoys teaching and will more than likely want to chat and have tea while making art together!
