This workshop is an introduction to the curious world of image tactility through intaglio platemaking & printmaking processes. Beginners & beyond are welcome to investigate topics of texture & tonality within the graphic or hand drawn image using an array of tools: etching needles, crayons, sharpies, dremel engraving, paint brushes, sponges, and more. Using these tools, we'll explore both classic & modern approaches to intaglio mark making. Methods in plate preparation, drypoint, line etching, aquatint, stop-out, print-shop safety/etiquette, and printing technique will be discussed throughout the duration of the workshop!
Open to ages 14+.
Registration deadline: Oct. 3
*PS1 workshops are pay-what-you-can thanks to support from Hills Bank and individual donors. $287 is the true cost of the workshop, and we encourage participants to select the cost that they can afford, or pay a little extra to support future sliding-scale fees.
